For decades, researchers have tried to produce a safe alternative to condoms or for the vasectomy. Experts in the UK have discovered the secret that can make men infertile, temporarily inhibiting the ability of sperm to swim.

They have invented certain compounds that leach into sperm and the sperm is temporarily paralyzing. In perspective, the product could be administered as a fast-acting pills or nasal spray that a man might use a few minutes before having an intimate relationship. The researchers believe the effects could take several days until the man would become fertile again.

Family consulting experts believe that the pill may help couples where the woman cannot take birth control because of medical conditions. Professor John Howl, of the University of Wolverhampton, described how efficient running of the agent stopping sperm is. He said: ‘The results are spectacular and almost instantaneous. When you add in healthy sperm our compound, the sperm can no longer move ‘

Infertility in men is generally caused by the slow movement of sperm motility called ‘slow motility’.

Using this information, the team produced a compound called peptide which penetrates the cell and by penetrating it, it immobilizes the sperm.

Peptides are short polymers formed by linking more amino acids to others. They occur naturally in the body, but biochemists have found a way to create them in the lab as well. Howl teacher claims that in about two or three years they will begin animal testing. After tests, it takes three to five years before a new drug can be put on the market, therefore the final product could be available in 2021.
