Atletico Madrid Star Antoine Griezmann is La Liga’s best player

The French player was ranked as the best football player of the 2015-2016 season announced La Liga on Monday during the most glamorous gala held at the Palace of Congresses in Valencia.

The 25-year-old striker Griezmann is also on the list of the 30 football players nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

The Atletico Madrid star scored 22 goals last season for the ‘colchoneros” in a total number of 38 matches. He also offered five assists and finished on the third position in La Liga, scoring with three points less than champion FC Barcelona.

Legend Lionel Messi was ranked as the best striker in the Spanish championship and Uruguayan Luis Suarez (both from FC Barcelona) is the best scorer, reporting a total number of 40 goals. He was also honored with the Best Non-European Player title.

Griezmann’s teammate, Uruguayan Diego Godin was named the best defender in La Liga, while the Real Madrid Luka Modric was ranked as the best midfielder.

‘Antoine is worthed ‘,  said club president of Atletico Enrique Cerezo, who motivated the absence of the French player at the event by claiming that he received a personal phone call when he was at the airport and he was forced to remain in Madrid.

The Spanish club got its hands on two other trophies. Coach Diego Simeone was named the best technician and Slovenian Jan Oblak was named the best goalkeeper.

However, Griezmann completes its collection of trophies after he was named the best player and top scorer of the EURO 2016 tournament.
