The U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested on Monday, during a radio show that he would like to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘before starting his term’ if he will become the winner of the presidential election set to take place on 8 November, reports politico.com.
Trump was asked by journalist Michael Savage radio what would the method he would adopt if he will face the challenge of preventing a war with Russia.
Although the Republican candidate failed to offer further details he said that the main issue is that the American state leaders are very reluctant and most times offensive when they are referring to Vladimir Putin.
‘They are constantly offending him so it should not surprise us if Putin will not support Obama and Hillary Clinton’, added the American tycoon, who was criticized for his friendly and tolerant attitude shown to the Kremlin leader .
Donald Trump stated that meeting with Putin before the elections is not a bad thing. On the contrary.
‘If I win on November 8, I see myself meeting with Putin and Russia before I begin my term. I think it will be great’, said Trump.
The Republican candidate estimated that Russia’s nuclear arsenal is way ‘more advanced’ than U.S’, although, according to the Arms Control Association (ACA), USA has 1,735 nuclear warheads, while Russia has only 1,481.
It is not clear if Donald Trump was referring to the limits established by the new START treaty, negotiated by Washington and Russia in 2011 when Hillary Clinton was the US secretary of state, added a source.
