Usain Bolt might become the Athlete of The Year

The Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt officially became one of ten candidates who aspire at the title for the best athlete of the year.
Bolt’s most powerful rivals are gold medalist Mo Farah, Brazilian Thiago Braz da Silva, the Olympic pole vault champion and last but not least American Ashton Eaton also known as the decathlon ‘King’.
The list also includes also Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, gold medalist at the marathon, his fellow Conselsus Kipruto and David Rudisha, both Olympic champions at the 3000 m Steeplechase and at the 800 m competition.
Other aspiring athletes at the big title are Jamaican Omar McLeon, American Christian Taylor and the Olympic champion in the triple jump South African Wayde van Niekerk.
Regarding their female counterparts, the IAAF list includes Kenyan Vivian Cheruiyot, gold medalist in Rio, American Kendra Harrison, who became the world record holder at the 100m and Catherine Ibaraguen, a world champion in the triple jump and the first gold medalist at the Olympics in the Colombian history.
Spanish Ruth Beitia, Jamaican Elaine Thompson, Polish Anita Włodarczyk, Croatia’s Sandra Perkovic, South African Caster Semey (800m), Ethiopian Almaz Ayana (10,000 m), Ruth Jebet Bahrain (3000 m Steeplechase) – they are all champion who complete the list of candidates aspiring the title for the athlete of 2016.
IAAF will announce on November 1st the names of the three finalists for each category and the winners will be disclosed at the World Athletics Gala, scheduled on December 2 in Monaco.
