The longest match in the history of tennis lasted 11 hours and five minutes and it was held for three days in a row.

The record was established during the match between French Nicolas Mahut and American John Isner and it lasted between 22 and 24 June in 2010, during the first round of the Wimbledon.

At that time, the American tennis player won the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-7 score and the decisive set ended with an improbable 68-70.

Also, the decisive set of 68-70 became the longest set in the history, also regarding the duration of 8 hours and 11 minutes and regarding the impressive number of games.

Until 2010, the record for the longest tennis match in the world was held by the Argentinean Leonard Mayer and Brazilian Joao Souza. They competed in March 2015 at the Davis Cup and their match, which ended up with Mayer’s victory lasted for six hours and 43 minutes.

The ‘endless match’ was entitled the confrontation between Isner and Mahut, which began at 6:13 local time.

After four sets, divided between the two, the match had to be interrupted because of the darkness. The match was resumed on July 23, on the same ground at 2:05 pm.

Theoretically, that time is enough to finish the match in the same day, right? At 5:45, the match became the longest in history.

Not only in the history of Wimbledon but from the tennis. It was played until 9:10 in a shower of games. After 10 hours of playing the game had stopped.
