After studying the images taken by a satellite, the U.S. researchers revealed there is plenty activity at the North Korean nuclear testing center.
According to them, the activity fuels speculations regarding a sixth nuclear test, which will probably take place on the next anniversary of North Korea’s unique political party.
This year, in January and September, the supreme leader conducted two nuclear experiments and the experts are convinced the initiation of the third one expects his approval.
The previous tests, including the launching of the rockets, were mostly conducted on special occasions.
The last experiment was conducted on September 9, the day when North Korea was founded.
Monday, Pyongyang celebrates its 71st anniversary of the Labor Party, North Korea’s only political party.
According to the 38 North website, the Institute of Johns Hopkins says the images taken by the satellite revealed activity at the Punggye-Ri site in northeastern North Korea.
‘The activity in the north tunnel, where the 9 September nuclear test was conducted might have several objectives, including the gathering of post-test information, the closure of the tunnel or the preparation for a new test’, revealed one of the scientists.
The movement was also noticed in the west and south tunnels.
‘The objective of this activity is uncertain, we believe that the tunnel (from the south) could sustain a nuclear test immediately after the decision’, revealed the researchers.
The energy released by the test conducted in September was of 10 kilotons, almost twice more powerful than the nuclear test from January.
