The 72-year-old lost his wallet and all his economies on Tuesday, while he was heading to the hospital.

Upset and without a single penny Paen Paewpongsong said that Tuesday was the most miserable day of his life.

The saddest part of the story is that the man was supposed to go with his granddaughter Arisa to a periodical check-up because she is suffering from Down syndrome.

The humble grandfather took all his savings not less than 15,000 baht (the equivalent of $ 424) and took Arisa to the doctor.

While he was rushing to arrive in time, Paen lost his wallet. The 72-year-old was not even able to buy a snack to his niece aged six.

His tragic story became a news subject and social media viral after the hospital staff initiated a fundraising in his name.

The people were so impressed with the loving grandpa and his niece they began to make the most generous donations.

In just three days, the bank account opened on Paen’s name gathered $36,692. Impressed by the huge amount Paen asked people to stop sending him money.

He said the current donations are more than enough and they better start helping other people.

‘I got enough money to fix my house and to prepare it for winter. I will offer my niece and my wife all the necessary things. Please stop sending me money and start helping other people who did not have such an opportunity’, said the man.

In addition, the police officer of Buriram offered  to watch his house, who became an appealing target for the thieves after they discovered Paen’s new financial situation.
