The British MI6 foreign intelligence service will have 40% more spies under one of the largest post-Cold War expansion.

The Secret Intelligence Service, or MI6, will have almost 3,500 employees by 2020, up from the 2,500 it now has, said sources close to the agency, quoted anonymously, reports the BBC.

MI6 does not make public the number of employees.

The head of MI6, Alex Younger, said last week that the terrorist threat facing the West will not be eliminated in the coming years just as they will because territories conquered by the Islamic State will be freed so that military operations will not solve the divisions of global reforms which have led to these militants.

MI6 acts overseas to defend the UK and its interests.

After two years, a former MI6 agent, Alastair Crooke, said about the Islamic State., that he believes that everyone uses Islamic State for its own purposes.

‘Everyone, it seems, uses the Islamic State for its own purposes,’ said Crooke for Huffington Post.

The former MI6 agent quotes a senior analyst called Raghida Dergham, reminiscent of the serious outbreak of schizophrenia that struck the Gulf countries in terms of reporting to the United States.

Alastair Crooke believes that the Arab countries are using the war against the Islamic State to force it on the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but Russia and Iran have a different purpose. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov encourages US airstrikes on the Islamic state but provided that they are really oriented towards Islamists and not the government.
