The worst air strikes that happened in months was mounted by airplanes against the districts held by rebels of Aleppo over the night, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the rebel officials.

The Syrian military made no immediate comments on the reports, nor did they mention about the Aleppo airstrikes on the state media.

John Kerry, the United States Secretary of State demanded that Russia and the Government in Syria should immediately halt the flights over the Syrian battle areas, in what Kerry called to be a last chance to save a ceasefire that is collapsing and find an ‘out of the carnage’ way.

‘It was the heaviest air strikes for months inside Aleppo city. It was very intense. In that area we didn’t see heavy fighting recently,’ said Rami Abdulrahman, Observatory director.

The head of the Fastaqim rebel faction political office based in Aleppo, Zakaria Malahifji, stated it was the most intense strike since April.

‘There is no weapon they didn’t use,’ he declared, speaking from Turkey.

A senior official from the Levant Front, which is another rebel group from Aleppo, agreed that it was the most intense strike that happened in many months.

There were more than 15 raids targeting two of the areas where his group was present, he added.

The rebel officials declared that the weapons they used included some incendiary bombs as well.

‘This is a type of pressure on the opposition. The Russians only want surrender. They have no other solution,’ said the Levant Front official.
