An alleged error made by a South Korean programmer, who works in Kim Jong-Un’s IT department, offered the world a sneak peek at their limited online source of information.

While the Internet is flooded with news and various posts regarding North Korea’s nuclear assets and Kim Jong-Un poor health, South Korea’s contribution to the world wide web is represented by only 28 registered domains.

The sneak peek was possible after one of the top-level nameservers was incorrectly configured, revealing the list of domains, which end in ‘.kp’.

Of course, most websites belong to official institutions, maritime agencies, TV stations, and communist newspapers.

The most recent headlines on the Rodong Sinmun website includes: ‘Congratulations to our veteran scientists’ and ‘Drug-related death, increasing among young South-Koreans’.

The ‘error’ also revealed Air Koyo’s website and other pages specialized in gastronomy and films produced in North Korea.

Numerous websites from all around the world, including Gizmodo published a series of captures and Reddit published the entire list of the 28 North Korean websites.

North Korea Tech blog administrator Martyn Williams claim the list does not reveal major secrets regarding the republic’s online activity and there is far more relevant information, available only to a small group of privileged people.

‘It’s important to note this isn’t the domain name system for the internal intranet’ Williams wrote. ‘That isn’t accessible from the internet in any way.’

The discovery was made on Tuesday by the security engineer Matt Bryant who posted the data on GitHub.
