Google failed to mention the exact purpose of their upcoming event, but judging by the promo clip posted on their Twitter page, we can see the famous Google search bar slowly turning into a ‘silhouette’, which resembles with a smartphone. Apparently, Google will launch two smartphones under the HTC Chromebook brand.
According to experts, Google will finally launch Pixel and Pixel XL, which represents a transition from the ‘Nexus’ generation, a collection of hi-tech devices featuring the Google Android operating system.
Created in collaboration with the Taiwanese giant HTC, the new Google smartphone will launch in two versions: one which in an average size and an XL version.
If these speculations are going to be confirmed, the upcoming device will directly compete with Apple’s iPhone 7.
Google confirmed the San Francisco event on October 4 and posted the invitations on their microblogging platform from the @googlenexus account.
The @googlenexus account was specially created used for announcing their large-scale events and launchings.
Although in the promo clip Google did not mention any detail, the outlines of a new smartphone are pretty obvious.
Speaking about the Nexus line earlier this year, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the company would be “more opinionated about the design of the phones,” and noted that it would “add more features on top of Android on Nexus phones,” which gives added credence to the report. Nevertheless, the 30-second video clearly indicates it’s a phone, with Google’s familiar search box morphing into the shape of a smartphone.
