There are children held in cardboard boxes instead of cribs or incubators at a hospital in Venezuela. The dramatic photo was published by lawyer Manuel Ferreira at a hospital in Barcelona, Venezuela.

The cardboard boxes write the newspaper El Nacional, are the degraded version of the hospital staff who are facing serious financial problems and do not have enough cots or incubators.

The hospital director tried to downplay the seriousness of the situation stating that placing children in boxes was a mistake of the night shift staff.

The images went viral and they terrified the citizens.

The other day, Miranda state governor declared a state of food emergency due to ‘lack of food’ for schools.

Venezuela, whose economy is devastated by the collapse rate of oil, currently has the highest rate of global inflation, estimated by the IMF at 720% for this year, and shortages affecting 80% of food and drugs, lacking the dollars to import them.

The Venezuelan opposition, which won the legislative elections at the end of 2015, insists on a referendum to revoke the mandate of the current short head of state, Nicolas Maduro, the successor of Hugo Chavez.

For months, the population of Venezuela is affected by an unprecedented shortage. People stand in queues for hours because of shops lacking even basic foods. In hospitals, doctors no longer have any drug or the necessary equipment.

The last socialist policy of 17 years, the galloping inflation and the lower price per barrel, the main resource of Venezuela, led the country into a severe economic crisis.

Neither the IMF nor other financial institutions will intervene until the political regime in Caracas will be changed.
