The Democratic Candidate labeled Angela Merkel as one of her ‘favorite world leaders’, praising her for the ‘courage’ shown during the refugee crisis, writes Reuters.

‘I appreciate many world leaders’, responded Clinton after she was asked who is her favorite state leader.

‘I think she is an extraordinary and strong leader, during a rough period for Europe, which had implications for the rest of the world, particularly for our country’, added the former Secretary of State.

Clinton said that she was truly impressed by Merkel’s ‘leading skills and determination’, especially during the Eurozone and refugee crisis.

‘I truly hope the opportunity of working with her in the future’, completed the American politician.

On the other hand, her Republican rival criticized Merkel’s political choices, accusing her of ruining Germany.

During a speech held by Donald Trump in Ohio, he compared Hillary Clinton with the German Chancellor, adding that his opponent aspires to become the American Angela Merkel.

‘On short, Hillary Clinton wants to become a U.S. Angela Merkel and you know the disaster she generated to Germany and Germans in general. The crime rate increased significantly. It’s a catastrophe’, said Trump at that time.

Angela Merkel became a true symbol of ‘failed attempts’, especially for the American people. A woman who believed that she could solve Germany’s problems, but her inability to set boundaries generated a crisis.

Some suggest that Trump is totally different from his female counterparts and represents a strong man, who can defend America from the potential mistakes that a female leader could make.
