A U.S. plane from the U.S. navy crashed on Thursday in the Pacific Ocean, near the Japanese island of Okinawa.

According to NBC News, the pilot catapulted himself and he is stable. The U.S. authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.

The incident was reported at 2 p.m. local time. After his AV-8 Harrier Jump Jet took from the Kadena airbase, the pilot ejected and the plane fell in the Pacific.

The U.S. military base from Okinawa is the home of 60,000 American soldiers. The locals are often complaining about the insecurity and inconveniences caused by the soldiers.

Numerous politicians and organizations from Okinawa, including the governor itself, signed a petition, demanding the U.S. military base to withdrawal.

The document also requires a review of the agreement signed in 1960 between Japan and U.S.

Last year, a former American soldier from the Kadena base was arrested and charged after he sexually abused and killed a 20-year-old girl. In March, a marine was detained after he raped a Japanese tourist in Naha and a female American soldier was arrested in June, also in Naha because she drove under the influence and caused a massive crash.

After these tragedies, U.S. forbade to all militants from Okinawa to leave the military base after 22p.m.

They are not allowed to consume alcohol either and the Japanese authorities sent special troops to supervise the area.

In June, more than 50,000 locals organize a massive manifestation against the American soldiers in a park from Naha.
