During the official meeting from Sunday, the Israeli Prime Minister, and the Republican candidate talked about the relationship between U.S. and Israel if he will become the next American president.
One of Donald Trump’s plans included the official recognition of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, writes Reuters.
The controversial statement was confirmed by Trump’s team. Although Israel considers Jerusalem as their capital, most countries, including The United States, established their embassies in Tel Aviv.
The most ‘interesting’ part is that the Palestinian state plans to make Eastern Jerusalem its capital.
During his meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, which lasted more than an hour, the American politician said that the Middle East will achieve their peace only after the ‘Palestinians will stop the violence and accepts Israel as a Hebrew state’.
The meeting took place at the Trump Tower in New York City, where Netanyahu was scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly.
“Mr. Trump recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Hebrew people for over 3,000 years and (stated) that the United States under his administration will finally accept the recognition of Jerusalem as the indivisible capital of Israel ‘, said his campaign team, in a press statement.
On Sunday, the Israeli diplomat also met Trump’s rival, Hillary Clinton. The Democratic Candidate promised Benjamin Netanyahu that if wins the presidential election from November 8, U.S. will help Israel to fight against ‘terrorist threats’.
The US administration does not recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital due to the on-going dispute between the Palestinian community and Israel.
