Surveillance camera recording shows a boy dressed in black, of only 16 years old, approaching a soldier on the West Bank Hebron trying apparently to show him some documents.
After getting close to the soldier, the teenager took out a knife and tried to stab the Israel Defence Force soldier.
The guard managed to get out of the way, but then the teenager tries the same thing at a second guard just before a struggle breaks out.
After the assailant fell to the ground he was shot dead.
‘An assailant armed with a knife attempted to stab an IDF (Israel Defence Force) soldier at a checkpoint at the entrance to (the village of) Bani Naim.’
‘Responding to the immediate threat, forces fired at the assailant, resulting in his death.’ an Israeli army statement stated.
The health ministry from Palestine identified the assailant as being Issa Tarayra, age 16, originally from Bani Naim.
The incident on Tuesday was the ninth to happen since Friday, following the Palestinians that wrapped up the Eid al-Adha Muslim celebration, Israel tightening the security before the major Jewish holidays which will take place in October.
Several weeks of a somehow calm were shattered by the upsurge.
The attacks that happened recently mostly took place around and in Hebron in the West Bank which is occupied and in the annexed East Jerusalem.
An Israeli policewoman was stabbed outside the Old City of Jerusalem on Monday and was in critical condition in intensive care.
Just after the attack, that left another officer of the police with not so bad wounds, the Israeli authorities have closed the Palestinian shops in the neighborhood.
Luba Samri, a police spokeswoman said that the closures could have been ordered for officers to be able to search the area, but a couple of shop owners were questioned whether it was seen as a punishment for the stabbing.
