‘UEFA – a forum supervised for nine years by one of the most talented and charismatic football players of all times, Michel Platini, who collapsed after a demonstration of vanity, directed his attention on a lawyer, too unfamiliar to lead UEFA through one of its most turbulent periods in history’, wrote the British journalist Owen Gibson in The Guardian.

Last week, the Slovenian became the new president of UEFA. But one of the biggest question marks highlighted by the British journalist was the incredible score registered by Ceferin and his powerful group of supporters, which included football organizations from Scandinavia, Germany, and Russia.

The support showed for Ceferin was certainly overwhelming and surprising. So, who is this obscure lawyer, who became the new UEFA chief overnight?

The press from Slovenia chose to not make any comment about their compatriot.

Only one, who he didn’t want to disclose his identity said: ‘Ceferin is a successful lawyer from Slovenia. He worked at a futsal club, called Litija, which is one of the successful clubs here. He knows how to lead an organization and he is a very intelligent person. You have to look to his campaign His campaign was very, very smart and organized. Since his appointment, the Slovenian football league increased. Our football matches are broadcasted live and the federation built a training center which is one of the most modern centers in Europe.’

The most interesting part is the fact that Ceferin allegedly ‘beautified’ his resume, in order to pose as the ideal candidate for the UEFA leadership, especially in the achievements and titles area.

‘I think Ceferin reached to UEFA to end this two and a half years term and to hide some things way deeper into the closet. Let’s wait and see.’, added the Slovenian journalist.
