Terrorist Attack Kills More Than 16 In Pakistan Mosque Suicide Attack

More than 16 people were killed by a suicide bomber who was shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ entered and attacked a mosque from Pakistan during Friday prayers.

About 35 worshippers got injured with a huge blast rocketing the building located in Butmana in a tribal area in the North West of the country, bordering Afghanistan.

According to the eyewitnesses, the place was full with people at the Friday prayers, the attacker shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ just before he detonated an explosive vest.

‘The suicide bomber was in the crowded mosque, he shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’, and then there was a huge blast,’, a deputy administrator of the Mohmand agency, Naveed Akbar, told reporters.

The attack took place in an area in which the army is fighting with the Taliban militants.

‘The Friday prayer was in progress at the mosque when a suicide bomber blew himself up killing at least 16 worshippers and wounding 35 others,’ a senior tribal administration official declared for AFP.

‘The area is remote and so far I have received only this information from our sources via wireless,’ he said.

The responsibility was not immediately claimed, but it is known that Pakistani Taliban particularly attack targets like courts, schools, and mosques.

Taliban militants got into a school in Peshawar back in December 2014, having killed more than 150 people, from which most of them children, which was Pakistan’s deadliest terrorist attack.

An operation was launched by the army in June 2014 in an action to wipe out the militant bases located in the northwestern tribal areas bringing an end this way to the bloody insurgency which killed thousands of civilians since 2004.
